Conference Code of Conduct
1.0 Purpose and Scope
The Australian Council for Student Voice Ltd. (ACSV) is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment at the Student Voice Conference 2025 (SVC 2025). This Code of Conduct applies to all attendees, including delegates, speakers, exhibitors, volunteers, and sponsors. By attending SVC 2025, all participants agree to adhere to this Code and contribute to a positive and welcoming experience for all. This code forms part of the events terms and conditions.
2.0 Expected Behaviour
All attendees of SVC 2025 are expected to:
· Respect Others: Treat all individuals with dignity, kindness, and respect, regardless of background, identity, or beliefs.
· Engage Inclusively: Foster an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all participants, ensuring diverse voices are valued.
· Demonstrate Integrity: Conduct themselves with honesty, fairness, and professionalism in all interactions.
· Prioritise Safety and Wellbeing: Refrain from behaviour that endangers the physical or emotional well-being of others.
· Collaborate Constructively: Engage in discussions and activities in a way that promotes learning, cooperation, and mutual respect.
· Follow Event Policies: Adhere to all event rules, child safety guidelines, policies, and any direction by the ACSV and the event venue.
3.0 Prohibited Conduct
The following behaviours will not be tolerated:
· Harassment or Discrimination: This includes, but is not limited to, verbal, physical, or online harassment; discrimination based on gender, race, ability, religion, or other protected characteristics.
· Bullying or Intimidation: Any form of aggressive, threatening, or coercive behaviour.
· Disruptive Conduct: Intentional interruptions of sessions, inappropriate behaviour, or refusal to comply with event staff instructions.
· Unlawful Activities: Any behaviour that violates Australian laws or Deakin University’s regulations, including but not limited to, theft, vandalism, or substance misuse.
· Smoking and Vaping: SVC 2025 is a smoke- and vape-free event. Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes, is strictly prohibited on event premises.
4.0 Child Safety and Wellbeing
ACSV is committed to ensuring a child-safe environment at SVC 2025. All attendees must:
· Adhere to ACSV’s child safety policies and relevant child protection laws.
· Respect the rights and dignity of children and young people at all times.
· Report any child safety concerns to event staff immediately. ACSV will have designated child safety officers available for support.
5.0 Reporting Violations
If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to event staff immediately.
Written reports can be made to the ACSV National Office (support@studentvoice.org.au) or to the Board of Directors (contact@board.studentvoice.org.au).
All reports will be handled with discretion and in accordance with ACSV’s policies.
6.0 Consequences of Violations
Any attendee found to have violated this Code may face consequences, including but not limited to:
· Warning: A verbal or written warning from event organisers.
· Removal from the Event: Immediate expulsion from SVC 2025 without a refund.
· Future Participation Restrictions: A ban from future ACSV events.
· Legal Action: Where appropriate, legal authorities may be involved.
7.0 Acknowledgement
By attending SVC 2025, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to abide by this Code of Conduct. Thank you for contributing to a safe and empowering conference experience for all.
