Statement on January 26

The Australian Council for Student Voice acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the unceded lands, skies, and waterways on which we live and learn. We offer our deepest respect to the Elders and Ancestors who have cared for this country since time immemorial.

Today we reflect on the resilience and contributions of First Nations peoples and acknowledge the pain this date represents for many as a reminder of colonisation and dispossession.

We believe in listening to and learning from First Nations voices, particularly young people, to build a future grounded in justice, truth, and reconciliation. We stand in solidarity with First Nations Australians and reaffirm our commitment to elevating their voices in education and beyond.
