Editorial Guidelines

The Megaphone is a blog that aims to provide timely, short-form content that amplifies student perspectives, encourages collaboration among stakeholders, and promotes innovative ideas in education.
The Megaphone focuses exclusively on short-form content, publishing on-demand to accommodate the evolving discourse around student voice and partnerships in education. Content will cover a range of topics including student leadership and advocacy, collaborative initiatives between students, educators, and policymakers, and innovative projects and practices that enhance student engagement and agency.
Content is published on-demand, and generally consists of posts around 500 words each, featuring insights, stories, and opinions from students, educators, and experts.

ReConnectEd is dedicated to documenting and sharing innovative approaches and initiatives aimed at enhancing student participation in both primary and secondary school settings. Our primary goal is to foster reflective practices among educators and stakeholders striving to elevate student participation, while providing access to valuable resources. At the core of ReConnectEd's mission lies the commitment to placing student participation at the forefront of school learning and governance.
Our focus extends to showcasing diverse strategies for integrating student participation into various school and classroom contexts, empowering students as active agents in their educational journey. Furthermore, we emphasise the pivotal role of students in shaping school policies, advocating for their involvement in policy development and implementation processes.
ReConnectEd underscores the importance of fostering co-agency among students, teachers, and the broader community, facilitating meaningful dialogues and collaborations. Through this publication, we aim to challenge and inspire readers to effect positive changes within educational settings and beyond.

Articles may be submitted in any format, such as a research articles, review articles, case studies, program reviews, editorials, letters to the editor, short communications, videos, etc. All content should primarily be in English.
Written articles should be submitted as an editable document (such as a Microsoft Word document). Submissions should employ a clearly legible font and spacing. Submissions should not include any personal details of the authors as these will be collected separately.
All submissions should include an abstract. This should be concise and informative, and provide an overview of the article.
All pieces should generally not exceed the equivalent of 5,000 words. Pieces under 500 words will be considered for publication on The Megaphone, and above 500 words in ReConnectEd. This is excluding references and exceptions can be made by the editorial staff.
Authors should follow conventions of the Australian Government Style Manual. If required authors may also consult the ABC’s Style Guide. References should follow the author-date style within the AGSM.
Images and other content should be submitted as separate files in high-resolution format (JPEG or PNG) and should be numbered consecutively in the order they are mentioned in the text.

All submissions undergo a rigorous peer review. The process includes initial screening and a formal peer review by up to three independent reviewers drawn from a panel of recognised authorities among Australian and/or international contributors. The ACSV reserves the right to edit articles at our own discretion unless otherwise negotiated.
Stage 1: Submission
Once we receive your article, we will endeavour to provide a receipt of submission within 5 working days.
From there, your article will be referred to one member of the Editorial Board for acceptance. Articles will be either accepted for publication, accepted pending review, or not accepted.
Stage 2: Review
If your article is accepted for publication, it will proceed to typesetting.
If your article is accepted pending review, it will be sent to up to three members of the Editorial Board. These reviewers will make constructive comments. Feedback will be referred to the Author within 2 weeks. Authors may then review the feedback, and may provide a revised submission.
This submission will be reviewed by one member of the Editorial Board, and may be referred for further rounds of revision. The Editorial Board may then accept the submission for publication.
Stage 3: Production
If accepted for publication, the piece will proceed to typesetting. The author and editorial board will be asked to review the typeset copy for publication.
The general editor will review the final copy and authorise publication.
We will use our best endeavours to ensure that the information is correct and current at the time of publication, but take no responsibility for any error, omission, or defect therein. No claim is made as to the accuracy or authenticity of the content of any publication. The ACSV and the Editorial Board make no representations, either expressed or implied, as to the suitability of any content for any particular purpose. Furthermore, the ACSV and the Editorial Board make no representations, either express of implied, that any content submitted will be published. Any opinions expressed by the authors are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the ACSV.

Corrections
Errors identified in published articles may be brought to the attention of the editorial office by authors, readers, or reviewers.
Upon receiving notification of an error, the Editorial Office will evaluate the nature and significance of the error in consultation with the authors, reviewers, and Editorial Board.
If a correction is deemed necessary, the correction will be published promptly, clearly identifying the error and providing the correct information. Corrections will be linked to the original article online.
Retractions
Articles may be retracted if they contain significant errors, misleading or fraudulent information, unethical conduct, or if there are serious concerns about the validity or integrity of the research.
Retraction requests may be initiated by authors, readers, reviewers, or the editorial board. Retraction requests will be thoroughly investigated by the editorial office, involving consultation with the authors, reviewers, and relevant experts.
The decision to retract an article will be made by the general editor in consultation with the editorial board, following established guidelines and ethical standards. Retraction notices will be published promptly, clearly stating the reasons for retraction and providing any relevant contextual information.
Authors of retracted articles will be notified of the retraction and provided with an opportunity to respond. Retraction notices will be linked to the original article online, and readers will be informed of the retraction through appropriate channels.
Appeals
Authors who disagree with a correction or retraction decision may appeal the decision by providing additional evidence or justification to support their position. Appeals will be reviewed by the editorial board, and decisions will be made based on the merits of the case and adherence to established policies and procedures.
ReConnectEd is committed to transparency and accountability in its correction and retraction processes. All correction and retraction notices will be published openly and prominently, and the reasonns for these actions will be communicated clearly to readers and stakeholders.
